CITROËN was born 90 years ago at the feet of the Eiffel Tower. Fast forward to 2011 and the brand has decided to reinvent itself with new product momentum, a new logo and a new positioning called 'Créative Technologie'.
A dynamic and creative brand, it launched the CITROËN DS3 to immense success in 2010, followed by the DS4 and DS5 in 2011. Building on its 'Créative Technologie' positioning, CITROËN markets a range including two full-electric cars, vehicles equipped with e-HDi micro-hybrid technology and a full hybrid, the 'Hybrid4'.
The brand's technological advances can also be seen at the World Rally Championship, where it has amassed six constructors' titles. In addition, the marque is moving forwards in its services looking at mobility offering vehicles such as the CITROËN Multicity. CITROËN has 10,000 customer contact points, 11,500 employees, a presence in 80 countries and sold 1,460,000 vehicles in 2010.
To showcase technology that best protects the environment, CITROËN created a new label, CITROËN Airdream. CITROËN Airdream encompasses the technologies such as e-HDi micro-hybrid technology. With e-HDi micro-hybrid technology, CITROËN now boasts one of the most efficient diesel engines on the market with 87g/km CO2 emission for CITROËN C3 and DS3.
The technology includes second-generation stop and start which is fitted with a system that recovers energy during deceleration. This instantly places the vehicle in standby when it comes to a halt or slows down. When driving in the city the system reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by as much as 15%.
The CITROËN DS5 is the company's first car to feature a full-hybrid drivetrain combining a HDi diesel engine and electric power. Hybrid4 diesel technology blends top-level performance 200bhp, four wheel drive, and electric power for city driving. The acceleration boost function in sport mode has extremely low CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.
CITROËN C-ZERO is a full-electric solution with zero fuel consumption, zero CO2 emissions and zero noise. It was designed to make urban and peri-urban mobility easier, with its compact dimensions, surprisingly strong performance and sufficient range for day-to-day journeys. With Berlingo First Electrique Airdream also available, CITROËN has what it takes to become a leading player in a market that is set to grow in the coming years.
