Invest in Andalucía is an initiative promoted by the regional government of Andalucía to attract foreign investors to the region. It comprises a multidisciplinary team with experience in international investment that is the single contact point for foreign-owned companies looking to set up, maintain and expand their activities in Andalucía.
Invest in Andalucía, based in Seville and with offices in 21 countries, comprises the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalucía and Extenda, Trade Promotion Agency of Andalucía.
Together both institutions offer customised and confidential support services to investors, free of charge, as well as the first follow-up service in Spain to favour reinvestment and company expansion.
Andalucía is a passageway between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, as well as between Europe and Africa. Ten commercial ports, six international airports and high-speed train connections make Andalucía the most important logistics hub in the south of Europe.
Andalucía is an unknown mine of talent, with a young population. Training, talent and capability are the three cornerstones of the Andalusian labour market, making it the region with the third largest number of graduates in Spain.
A competitive and profitable region, as shown by its export capacity and attraction of foreign direct investment, the combination of productivity levels close to the EU average, and some of the lowest costs in the region, generate strong competitive advantages for companies.
Andalucía is also an important business market. One of the main attractions of the Andalucía business community is its organisation into clusters. The region accounts for more than 500,000 companies in Spain, ranking second in terms of businesses at national scale.
Over 2,000 multinational businesses operate in Andalucía. The main investors' countries in the EU region are France, Germany and the UK.
Moreover the region is a pioneering region in R&D in renewable energies. It leads the Spanish biomass sector, has one of the highest levels of installed photovoltaic capacity in the country and is home to the global leader of thermal solar energy, Abengoa.
Pioneering private initiatives are also being promoted by ICT companies in the region to establish the first cloud computing centre in Spain. The agro-industrial sector has a long tradition which carries the most economic and social weight in Andalucía. The region represents an international benchmark in technologies for intensive farming and farming under plastic, as well as technologies for the olive and olive oil industries.
The regional government of Andalucía is firmly committed to supporting companies in the region. Investment projects may receive the maximum intensity of incentives permitted by the EU as Andalucía is a convergence region. The regional government of Andalucía offers one of the best programmes of incentives in the south of Europe to develop an economic and business structure.
